Goodie House

Shine Goodie

Goodie House offers a space for emerging poets as well as established writers. Their readings are curated, and aim to highlight the work of Queer and BIPOC writers, culminating in a beautiful array of human difference and experience.

The Divided City initiative often speaks about “placemaking.” Goodie House is engaged in active placemaking. If we define placemaking as “a participatory process for shaping public space that harnesses the ideas and assets of the people who use it,” then Goodie House is a perfect example. Their readings are always free and open to the public. Their goal is to be comfortable & comforted, to be both excited & moved by words in ways that enrich us. Additionally, Goodie House is located in St. Louis city spaces that have radical intent in their placement in the community first at Soulard Art Market, then Human Spaces, and now at WildFruits projects.
